THE ZERO WASTE FOUNDATION
WHO WE ARE
The Zero Waste Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation founded by the shareholders of Don’t Waste.
The Zero Waste Foundation, supported by Don’t Waste, has successfully implemented several clean-up operations throughout South Africa and Mauritius, teaming up with numerous social partners and clients. The foundation welcomes both not-for-profit and corporate entities to join a growing list of partners, to action environmental clean-ups and other social investment initiatives.
Our goal is to support and facilitate clean-ups of beaches, rivers and inland areas to improve the quality of our environment. Teams from Don’t Waste operations work with our clients and the Zero Waste Foundation on cleanup projects.
To find technologies that improve organic waste recycling and clean up our environment. There are a growing number of solutions for organic waste, particularly by emerging micro-enterprises. The Zero Waste Foundation is willing to support, train and assist projects that are triple bottom line to get them off the ground. Triple bottom line solutions commit to ensuring social, economic and environmental improvement e.g. job creation for disadvantaged communities (social), a profitable technology (economic) and reduced pollution in our ecosystems through recycling (environment).
The Zero Waste foundation aims to raise awareness on the importance of recycling and improve recycling practices in public and private sectors through e-learning channels, public signage and other recycling initiatives.
Our mission mandates work in unison to actively drive sustainable practices through associated waste minimisation and clean-up projects.

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
Partner with us and join a clean-up initiative, it’s the right thing to do.

Increased urbanisation and waste generation coupled with large quantities of mismanaged waste leaking into our environment means there has never been a more crucial time to act.
When waste ends up in a river, the ocean or on land, it can persist in the environment for years with many negative impacts. The Zero Waste Foundation recognises that intervention is needed to clean up our environment and preserve our natural resources.
We have a responsibility to protect our environment by partaking in clean-ups to create a cleaner, more sustainable planet.
Partner with us and join a clean-up initiative, it’s the right thing to do.

INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY 2021
On the 18th of September 2021, we partnered with
Adopt-a-river for International Coastal Clean-up Day.
In collaboration with our partners, we were able to clean up 1.2 tons of waste from the Beachwood mangroves
in Durban, South Africa. Don’t Waste provided an on-site team who sorted and recovered as much waste as
possible which was then sent to recycling facilities.

WE RECYCLED 110KGS OF PLASTIC WASTE
This event is a great testament to what is possible when a group of dedicated and hardworking individuals come together to improve and conserve our coastline. Through collaboration and partnership, we believe we can work towards the common goal of creating a cleaner and more sustainable future.
